The Sacrament of Matrimony

A wedding is a day, marriage is a lifetime.

We, the community of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church wish to congratulate you on your engagement and upcoming marriage.  Our parish extends a warm welcome to all who choose to come here for their wedding.  Se hacen arreglos y las bodas en espanol tambien.

The decision to marry is a commitment to one another, to the faith community of the Church and acknowledges God's unconditional love and presence in your relationship.  Because we look upon this moment in your lives with such importance, it is only natural that the preparation for this lifelong experience is one that we take seriously. 

Marriage is the blessed sacrament of becoming one and growing together in faith.

Marriage is a sacrament of the Catholic Church.  Just as Jesus attended the wedding at Cana, He also attends yours.  The Church expects her members to be married before a priest or deacon and 2 witnesses in the Catholic Church.  We are not permitted to perform weddings outside of the parish church.

What you need to know:

You will need to contact the parish office at least 6 months prior to the date you would like to marry in order to meet with a priest or deacon.  Please call (714) 871-3610 to schedule an appointment.  Meeting with a priest or deacon and the wedding coordinator is mandatory before any date can be confirmed.

At this meeting, we will discuss all that needs to be completed before the wedding day.

(Certificates, Marriage Preparation for Engaged Couples, etc.)

Marriage ceremonies are not celebrated during Advent or during Lent.

Validation of a Marriage

A couple who has been married through a civil ceremony and now wishes to have their marriage validated in the church to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony, need to speak with a priest before a date can be confirmed.  Please call the parish office to make an appointment. Wedding Coordinator

Gloria Wheeler is our wedding coordinator and is available to answer any questions you may have.  She will also assist in meetings between the couples and the priest or deacon.  For more information in planning your wedding ceremony, please contact her through the parish office. MARRIAGE IN THE LORD

Marriage Preparation for Engaged Couples

If you are getting married and need to receive your marriage preparation, Marriage in the Lord Series classes will take place every February and October of each year. Sessions are normally held on Friday evenings starting at 7:00pm.
