GUIDELINES FOR THE SACRAMENTS OF BAPTISM

Congratulation on your new baby!

Thank you for considering having your baptism at St. Philip Benizi, your church community

English Baptism

Infant baptisms are celebrated every 3rd Sunday of each month at 3:00 PM

Preparatory classes are held on the 1st Friday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Faith Formation Room.

Spanish Baptism

Infant baptisms are celebrated in Spanish on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 2:00 PM.

Preparatory classes are held on the 1st Friday of the month at 7:00 pm: in Room #1.

Attendance to one class is required for parents and godparents on the First Friday of the month at 7:00 PM.
Classes are in English and Spanish at the same time at two different locations..

Please note that  only the Father or the Mother can request Baptism for their child. They need to come to the parish office and fill-out the application form and bring copy of their child's  birth certificate.  You may also download the form by clicking at this link and bring it to the office together with the copy of the child's birth certificate.

The fee for processing and certificate  is $10.00 payable to St. Philip Benizi Church.
An envelope will be provided for the donation on the day of ceremony.

Godparent(s) need to be practicing Catholics, 16 years old or older and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.  If married they need to present the copy of certificate of their Sacrament of Matrimony.  They have to attend the Baptism class with the parents ( or in the parish close to them).

A non catholic person can be a Christian witness, not a godparent.  Parents and Godparents are required to attend a baptismal preparation clss, during which the theology and the rite of the Sacrament, the duties of parents and godparents are presentd.

Adults (or children older than 7) who are interested in being received into the Church are invited to call the Faith Formation Office, (714) 870-0561
